Champagne and Fried Chicken…why not indeed?  Max’s wine dive in Uptown has the casual ambiance of a noisy beer tavern with juke box music choices like 80’s metal songs playing in the background.  The food has classic southern menu items complete with hearty, American desserts.  Try “Max’s Famous Southern Fried Chicken” plate served with three pieces of chicken, over collard greens, mashed potatoes, and texas toast.  The fried chicken is soaked in their famous jalapeno-buttermilk and deep fried with perfection.    Not too greasy and just the right amount of mouth watering tenderness!  The collard greens has that wonderful bitter taste with a touch of spice.  This accompanied with a glass of the “Belle Epoque” champagne makes it a complete gourmet southern dinner!  The Fried egg sour dough sandwich is sinfully delicious.  Three pan fried eggs drizzled with truffle oil and topped with gruyere cheese.  It’s worth all the calories!  Try the S’mores brownie, a classic dessert with a twist.   Rich chocolate ganache and thyme marshmallows add an unusual but delectable flavor.  I will definitely return to Max’s when I have to satisfy my craving for classic southern food and reminisce about home made flavors of the old south.  Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio- Texas
